Mural Revela FAQs
1. Can it be installed on the ceiling?
No, installation on the ceiling is not possible. There is a risk of the product falling and causing injury or damage. Additional fire protection regulations may also apply.
2. Which silicone is approved?
Silicone is not suitable for PVC. Polymer adhesives provide better adhesion. Transparent polymer is recommended.
3. Is waterproofing behind Mural Revela necessary?
Additional waterproofing is only required in wet areas if the substrate is not waterproof. If in doubt, waterproofing can be applied, even on top of tiles (polymer adhesive still adheres). Recommended: any transparent polymer. Good results were achieved with Bostik MSP 106 or Rubson FT 101.
4. What waterproofing regulations apply in Germany?
The installer must check the substrate for waterproofness, especially in wet rooms. If the substrate is not waterproof, it must be sealed with a suitable product.
5. How should the old substrate be prepared?
This must be checked individually. If necessary, apply waterproof primer with a roller. Missing tiles can be leveled with Wedi boards.
6. Does the system have DIN 18534 certification?
The product itself is not certified. The substrate must be waterproof.
7. Which polymer adhesive is recommended?
A “soft” MS polymer is recommended. Hard polymers dry too quickly and are harder to work with.
8. How is the adhesive applied?
By cartridge. A notched trowel is not required (unlike some competitors).
9. Where can the product be used with fire class D‑s3, d0?
This depends on regional regulations and must be checked individually.
10. Is it approved for sports halls or swimming pools?
No. Showers may be possible but must be checked individually.
11. Can different formats be combined?
Yes – observe installation direction.
12. Can XL (260×90 cm) and XXL (260×120 cm) be combined?
Yes.
13. What flatness must the substrate have?
Flatness: < 5 mm with a 2 m straightedge and < 3 mm with a 20 cm straightedge.
14. Recommended floor coverings?
Currently no specific recommendations. Options will be presented in the next Creation collection.
15. What about mold or condensation behind the panels?
No cases known. Structural building issues cannot be attributed to the wall panel. The same issue could occur with ceramic tiles.
16. Installation time?
Approx. 3 hours per 10 m² (20 minutes per m²). Ceramic tiles: approx. 10 hours per 10 m².
17. Processing cost?
Tiles incl. adhesive, profiles: €60–80 per m² XL panels incl. adhesive, profiles: €90–105 per m² (Without labor costs)
18. How to repair a hole?
Cut a matching piece from a new panel and cover the hole. In wet areas, replacing a full panel is recommended.
19. What about scratches?
Use Dr. Schutz Scratch Fix or a matching touch‑up pen.
20. Use in the kitchen?
Yes. Behind the stove, an additional splash guard (glass, metal, etc.) is required.
